Two men were shot while sitting in a car at a red light in Rogers park this morning.

An early morning shooting claimed the lives of two men Monday.

Police say someone shot the men while they waited at a red light in their SUV in the Rogers Park neighborhood around 12:45 a.m., causing their vehicle to hit a tree on the 7600 block of North Sheridan Road.

The 27-year-old passenger was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. The 26-year-old driver was taken to St. Francis Hospital in Evanston, where he died.

Police say the shooting was not an attempted carjacking.

Detectives are still investigating.
