Two Killed in Interstate 57 Accident

Two people were killed when a car lost control on Interstate 57 Sunday morning, officials said.

A Blue 1997 Oldsmobile was reportedly traveling too fast for Sunday’s rainy conditions and lost control. The car spun across traffic lanes, rolled over and went airborne into a guardrail face before rolling into a center median and striking the concrete bridge support, according to police.

The accident, which occurred around 4:30 a.m. on Interstate 57 near 127th Street, killed both the driver and passenger.

Police said alcohol may have been involved in the accident, but no confirmation was made Sunday morning.

The two left lanes of the highway remained closed as of Sunday morning while officials cleared the area.
