Boy, 10, Dies in I-94 Crash While En Route to Church

The car was traveling northbound on I-94 when it crashed into a wall

A 10-year-old boy is dead and another child is seriously injured after they were ejected from a car that crashed on I-94 near suburban Gurnee Saturday morning.

The seven people in the car were traveling northbound on the way to mass at Holy Hill Church in Hubertus, Wisc., when the vehicle hit a wall, according to Manju Jacob, a close friend of the family's. Reeve and his 11-year-old cousin were both ejected from the car.

The injured children were transported to Advocate Condell Medical Center in serious condition, but the 10-year-old boy later died.

Reeve was a fourth grade student at Woodland Intermediate School in Gurnee, Jacob said. He leaves behind a four-month-old sister and his parents.

Two adults in the car were also injured in the crash and transported to Vista Hospital in serious condition, according to the Illinois State Police.

Reeve's aunt Silvia Jacob, who is not related to Manju Jacob, was driving the car when it crashed. She has been cited for improper lane usage and child restraint.
