Two construction workers rescued by firefighters

Firefighters successfully rescued two construction workers trapped in a trench at a work site in Skokie.

The workers became trapped in the 10-foot-deep-by-3-foot-wide trench around 11 a.m. Tuesday morning, the Chicago Tribune reports. Once help arrived, it took 21 minutes to free one of the victims, and a little over an hour to rescue the other.

Both men were taken to Evanston’s St. Francis Hospital, with no serious injuries reported.
