Train Station Throat Slashing Suspect Spotted in Indy

Stolen car found in Indianapolis, suspect caught on surveillance tape

Investigators have new leads in finding the individual suspected of robbing and slashing the throat of a man at the East Chicago South Shore train station last month.

Police say the victim's stolen car was found in Indianapolis Sunday, according to the Northwest Indiana Times. The suspect, 24-year-old Jawaun Dontell Woods of Gary, was also spotted on videotape at a nearby drugstore.

The victim was waiting for his wife to get off the train when he went into the bathroom, followed by a man police say was Woods. The man's throat was slashed from behind and stabbed a second time during the struggle. The suspect took his wallet and keys and escaped from the station in the victim's Honda Accord.

The suspect went to a Lansing Walmart after the attack and bought Lady Gaga CDs with the victim's credit card, police say.

Woods is considered to be armed and dangerous.

The victim suffered non-life threatening injuries in the attack.
