Chicago Police Chase Suspected L.A. Tan Burglar to Indiana

A man has been charged for a Saturday night armed robbery at a tanning salon on the northwest side's Cragin neighborhood, and a subsequent police chase that ended in Indiana.

Tomasz Chraca, 24, of west suburban Burr Ridge, is charged with one count each of aggravated robbery and aggravated fleeing from police.

About 7:50 p.m. Saturday, police responded to a robbery at L.A. Tan at 5541 W. Belmont Ave.

The incident started when a panic alarm was pulled at a business, police News Affairs Officer Ron Gaines said.

A man driving a white Ford truck tried to make a getaway as police called in more departments to help, who joined in the pursuit.

The chase ended when the man was taken into custody in Munster, Ind., shortly before 9 p.m., police News Affairs Officer Daniel O'Brien said.

Chraca is slated to appear in bond court later Sunday, police said.
