A 3-year-old boy was hit by a van on Chicago's Southwest Side Tuesday night after running into the street while chasing after a dog.
Chicago police say the accident happened shortly before 7 p.m. in the 6900 block of North Talman Avenue.
The van was traveling south on Talman Avenue when the boy darted between two parked cars and into the street. Police said the boy was taken to Holy Cross Hospital and later transferred to Advocate Christ Children's Hospital in Oak Lawn where he was listed in critical condition.
Authorities said the driver of the vehicle that hit the boy did stop after the accident.
No one has been ticketed in the accident, police said.
