Man dies, four others hurt in separate Thursday night shootings

Shootings in three Chicago neighborhoods left one person dead and four others hurt Thursday night.

Police say shots rang out in the 5900 block of South Calumet Avenue in Washington Park around 10 p.m. Thursday, according to the Chicago Tribune

When police arrived, 20-year-old Shaquille L. Rush was already dead. The Cook County Medical Examiner said Rush, who lived about three blocks from where he was shot, suffered multiple gunshot wounds.

A 16-year-old girl near Rush also was shot, police said. She was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital with a graze wound.

Less than two hours later, a shooting wounded a man and woman in the Little Village neighborhood, according to the Tribune. Police said they were shot in the 2600 block of South Tripp Avenue.

The man was shot multiple times while the woman suffered a graze wound to her elbow, police said. The man remains in serious condition at John H. Stoger, Jr. Hospital.

Earlier on Thursday, police said a 15-year-old gang member was shot in the legs in Gage Park. Someone fired the shots out of a passing SUV on the 3400 block of West 53rd Street, police said.

Police said the teenager is in good condition at Advocate Christ Medical Center.
