Thomas', Sara Lee, Jewel Bagels Recalled in Illinois

Bagels sold in at least 13 states across the U.S., including Illinois, have been recalled because they may contain undeclared peanuts and almonds.

Bimbo Bakeries USA voluntarily recalled Thomas’, Sara Lee, and Jewel bagels after the bakery that produced the items discovered that peanuts and almonds were in an ingredient used to make them.

States included in the recall are Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Missouri, Minnesota, Montana, North Dakota, Nebraska, Ohio, South Dakota and Wisconsin.

The recalled products include 6-packs of Thomas’ everything, whole wheat, onion and plain bagels and 10-packs of Thomas’ Plain Mini Bagels. It also includes 6-packs of Sara Lee’s blueberry, cinnamon raisin and plain bagels along with 6-packs of Jewel’s blueberry, cinnamon raisin, onion and plain bagels.

So far, no illnesses have been reported, officials said.

Customers who purchased the recalled products can return them to the store they purchased the bagels from for a full refund. Consumers with questions may contact the company at 1-800-984-0989.
