According to Lake County News Sun, A Buffalo grove teen allegedly stole credit cards and used the information to play Internet games, leading police to his home. When the police entered the home, they stumbled upon his parent's pot farm and arrested them as well.

Lincolnshire and Buffalo Grove police departments, U.S. Postal Inspection Service agents and investigators from the Lake County State’s Attorney Office executed a search warrant they had obtained at the teen's home when they discovered the marijuana plants.

Trevor Miller, 17, was charged with identity theft, burglary, unlawful use of a credit card, computer fraud and unlawful production of marijuana plants.

His parents,  Cindy, 50, and James, 52, were also charged with unlawful production of marijuana.

Police had been following leads and investigating fraudulent online purchases made with stolen credit cards, eventually leading them to Miller.  Finding the pot was a bonus.
