Man Wrestled Away Taser, Stunned Officer: Cops

The suspect became combative and took an officer's Taser, police said

A curfew check turned into a wrestling match after a Chicago police officer was tasered in Marquette Park, authorities said.

Deshawn James, 19, of the 6500 block of South California Avenue, was charged with aggravated battery to a police officer, disarming an officer, resisting arrest and obstructing identification.

The officers thought James was violating curfew when they spotted him on the block where he lived around 10:40 p.m. Monday, according to a police statement.

Police said James became combative and somehow took one of the officers’ Tasers during the struggle and stunned one of them.

James was arrested, and officers received treatment for non-life threatening injuries at a hospital, police said.
