Teen Shot on the Way to School

A Chicago teen was shot multiple times Tuesday morning while walking to school on the city's West Side.

The 14-year-old victim, whom police prefer not to identify by name, lives on the 5600 block of W. Huron and was walking down Chicago Avenue toward Douglass Academy High School with a pair of friends at around 8:15 this morning when the incident occured. The group stopped into a convenience store for some chips and juice -- when they came out, shots rang. 

The boy was taken to Loyola University Hospital in Maywood. He’s listed in critical condition with gun shot wounds to his shoulder, lower back and buttocks.

Witnesses described the shooter as a male wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt with khaki pants. No arrests have been made.
