Lake Michigan may take a while to clean up.

A 15-year-old boy who was pulled from Lake Michigan Saturday night has died.

The boy was swimming in Lake Michigan near the 4000 block of East 98th Street with some friends about 7:45 p.m. Saturday when he began to struggle, according to police News Affairs Officer Amina Greer.

Police relayed information about the incident to the Coast Guard, which pulled the boy from the water, Greer said.

The boy, Cody Prentiss, 15, was taken to Advocate Trinity Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 9:15 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.

Calumet Area detectives are conducting a death investigation.
