Teen Critical, 2 Injured After Hit-and-Run

Accident happened on the corner of Central Avenue and Washington Boulevard

Police are questioning two people in connection to a hit-and-run that left a 13-year-old in critical condition and injured two others.

The accident happened on the corner of Central Avenue and Washington Boulevard around 8:43 p.m. Thursday, police said. The car the girl was traveling in was stopped at the light heading westbound when another car traveling at a high rate of speed rear-ended it, said police.

The girl was taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital in critical condition, along with a man and woman, both 18, who were listed in good condition.

Occupants of the second car initially fled the scene, but two people are being questioned early Friday.

The police Major Accidents Investigation Unit is investigating.
