Teen Charged After Stealing Woman's Purse in Loop

A 17-year-old boy was charged with felony robbery after police said he knocked a 58-year-old woman to the ground and stole her purse Saturday night in the Loop.

The boy was running down East Adams Street near Wabash Avenue around 10:10 p.m. when he knocked the woman down and took off with her purse, according to Chicago Police News Affairs Officer Michael Sullivan.

A witness called police after the robbery and a description of the teen was sent out. Patrolling officers quickly found the teen and he was taken into custody.

The victim positively identified the teen, Sullivan said. She was not injured in the incident and received her belongings back.
