Teen, 16, Charged In Bucktown Sexual Assault

Police said a woman was assaulted in broad daylight in her home

A 16-year-old boy was charged Monday for sexually assaulting a woman in her Bucktown apartment in broad daylight, police said.

The boy was charged with felony counts of armed home invasion, aggravated criminal sexual assault with a weapon, aggravated armed kidnapping and vehicular hijacking in connection with the 1:15 p.m. Sunday attack on the 2100 block of West Moffat Street.

Police said the suspect broke into the 43-year-old woman's home and sexually assaulted her at gunpoint.

The boy then stole the woman's cell phone, police said, and forced her into her car. She later was released and treated at a local hospital for unknown injuries.

Police arrested the suspect about an hour later in the Douglas Park neighborhood at Roosevelt Road and Western Avenue.

He is scheduled to appear in bond court Monday.
