A former middle school and high school band teacher is sentenced to 30 years in federal prison for having a sexual relationship with a student, according to the Northwest Indiana Times.
The student's father found out about the relationship after searching her computer.
Ciammetti was originally charged in Lake County, Indiana on two counts of child molesting, two counts of sexual misconduct with a minor and a single count of child solicitation.
He pleaded not guilty to the charges and was slated to go on trial in August 2009 when he was arrested and charged by federal prosecutors.
Along with his 30-year prison sentence, Ciammetti was also punished by Hammond federal Judge James Moody to 20 years of supervised release.
As part of a plea agreement, Ciammetti pleaded guilty to one county of coercion and enticement of a minor and one count of manufacturing child pornography.
Prosecutors dropped other charges and agreed to forgo the balance of his teacher's retirement account as restitution.
