Sylvester the Cat Rescued from a Watery Grave

Doll misidentified as body in river

It looks like the cat's out of the bag and, thanks to Chicago Police, out of the river.

Emergency phone operators received a gruesome, upsetting call at about 7 a.m. this morning.

A body was seen in the Chicago River near 700 North Larrabee Street, just south of the Chicago Avenue bridge.

Responders headed for the scene, prepared for the worst.

Once at the river, they pulled the body out of the water—the body of a large stuffed animal, that is.

Sylvester the Cat, a life-sized Looney Tunes doll, was a bit waterlogged but otherwise okay.

First, Porky Pig was violently beaten. Now, Sylvester was left in the River to drown. What's next? Elmer Fudd getting "wobbed"?
