One person was dead and two officers injured after police in Aurora exchanged gunfire Thursday night with “more than one subject,” authorities said.
The gun battle involved Special Operations Investigators and took place near Galena and LaSalle, the Aurora Police Department said in a Facebook post. The post was made about 10:40 p.m., but it was not immediately clear what time the shooting took place.
One of the suspects was reported dead, police said. One officer was hit by gunfire and received injuries that were non-life-threatening. A second officer was injured by not hit by gunfire, police said.
A Facebook Live with hundreds of viewers claimed to be broadcasting from the scene of the shooting. It showed many emergency response vehicles with lights flashing. The narrator in the video said he could see a body under a white sheet.
No other information was immediately available.
