Al Filan.

The Orland Park Police Department has a suspect in custody Friday in connection with the slaying of a beloved Brother Rice High School business teacher.

Alan Filan, 61, was found dead in his southwest suburban home Tuesday. He was stabbed several times.

Police say the suspect, whose name was not released, was an acquaintance of the victim, and that the crime was an isolated incident.

Filan, 61, was chairman of the business department at the school and a business teacher. He taught at the school in the Mount Greenwood neighborhood for more than 30 years and was a well-known soccer coach in the area.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Orland Park Police Department at (708) 349-4111.
