Suspect Arrested After Two Hit by Blowgun Darts on U of I Campus

A 19-year-old man was arrested Friday in connection with two incidents involving pedestrians being shot with blowgun darts as they walked the University of Illinois campus last week.

Police on Friday arrested Todd Farthing, 19, of Champaign, after they received an anonymous tip.

He was arrested for misdemeanor reckless conduct following the incidents, according to a press release from Champaign police.

Police said Wednesday that both victims were shot Aug. 20 in the same area in the central part of the campus.

One dart hit a 20-year-old woman in her left forearm as she walked through a cross walk. Later that night a 35-year-old man was struck in his left forearm.

Police say both were treated for their injuries at a local hospital.
