Sunday's World Cup Viewing Party Moved After Storms

The U.S. Men’s National Team faces Portugal at 5 p.m.

The second World Cup viewing party Sunday has been moved to Balbo Avenue between Lake Shore Drive and Columus Drive.

Saturday storms drenched the Lower Hutchinson Field area of Grant Park where the viewing party was supposed to be held, prompting officials to once again change the location.

“Balbo Avenue will allow fans a dry and convenient location for the party, which is free and open to everyone,” U.S. Soccer officials said Saturday.

Because of the move, beer will not be sold or allowed at the new location and no outside alcohol will be allowed into the viewing party, officials said.

The U.S. team's first match, a surprise win over Ghana, was shown at Arvey Field, also in Grant Park.

Thousands attended the outdoor viewing, and more are expected on Sunday as excitement builds around the team.

The live feed will be displayed on a 33’-by-19’ high-definition screen.

B-96 morning radio host J Niice will host the event, which opens to the public at 2 p.m.

The June 26 match against Germany will be held at the Petrillo Music Shell at Butler Field, located near Columbus Drive and Jackson Street in Grant Park.
