Woman Sexually Assaulted at Massage Envy in Elmhurst: Suit

During the massage, he “deliberately and repeatedly” touched her inappropriately against her will, the woman claims

An Elmhurst woman visiting her local Massage Envy for medical reasons was instead sexually assaulted by an employee at the west suburban business, she claims in a lawsuit filed Friday.

The woman visited the Massage Envy on Sept. 9, 2014, for a medical condition that requires massage treatments, according to the suit filed in Cook County Circuit Court.

The masseur — named as a defendant in the suit along with Massage Envy — escorted her to a private room when she arrived, the suit said. During the massage, he “deliberately and repeatedly” touched her inappropriately against her will, the woman claims.

She alerted Massage Envy about what happened, but she claims no action was taken. Instead, staff allegedly tried to distract her.

The woman then filed a complaint with Elmhurst police, but the masseur in question had left the business by the time officers arrived, the suit claims.

A representative for Elmhurst police could not be reached to say whether the employee was arrested. Court records did not show charges for the man related to the September 2014 incident.

A Massage Envy manager was not available for comment Friday night.

The woman alleges she was battered and suffered emotional distress in the five-count suit. She also claims Massage Envy acted negligently.

The suit seeks an unspecified amount in damages.
