Suburban Nuns Wage Legal Battle Against Neighboring Strip Club

The Sisters of St. Charles in Melrose Park say they can prove that what’s happening in the neighboring Allure Gentleman’s Club is illegal

A group of suburban nuns have taken their battle to court to try and shut down a strip club next door to their convent.

The Sisters of St. Charles in Melrose Park say they can prove that what’s happening in the neighboring Allure Gentleman’s Club in Stone Park is illegal.

A 52-page complaint filed in Cook County Circuit Court this week is extremely detailed, per the judge’s request.

“We’ve taken this up a level, and we’re suing the village itself and the strip club in order to try and get the strip club closed,” said Corrina Konczal, a Thomas More Society attorney.

Konczal confirmed they have sent investigators to the strip club fifteen times since 2014.

“On each and every occasion, he encountered acts of prostitution, women who were offering sexual favors, women who were grinding their private parts against the investigators’ private parts, in a very physical way meant to arouse these men, and that’s clearly prostitution under Illinois law,” said Konczal.

The complaint also states that a dancer repeatedly "offered the investigator a date for sex for $250."

While the nuns were uncomfortable with the details in the complaint, Konczal said they are willing to take their fight further to restore the atmosphere they once had.

“We've modified it to follow to the letter the exact requirements of the Lewdness Public Nuisance Act, Konczal said. “The judge must close the strip club if all requirements are met.”

Representatives for the Allure Gentlemen’s Club could not be reached for comment.

A hearing is scheduled for April 18, where the club is expected to react to this new information.
