An 8-year old boy from northwest suburban Cary is recovering after he fell into a canyon at Starved Rock State Park.
The accident happened Sunday afternoon, according to the Chicago Tribune.
Illinois Conservation Police say the boy was with his parents when he fell about 20 feet into Basswood Canyon.
The boy was rescued and flown to a hospital in Peoria with head and neck injuries.
He underwent surgery late Sunday and is stable condition.
