Suburban Animal Shelter Rescues Cat Severely Burned by Boiling Water

The rescue says Milo has endured "horrific pain" from his severe burns, but despite the pain, they say he is "friendly and sweet"

An animal shelter in suburban Morton Grove has rescued a severely burned cat whose injuries are thought to be caused by boiling water that was thrown on him.

The cat, named Milo, was saved by Wright-Way Rescue, a no-kill shelter, after the rescue received a plea for help from an animal control facility four hours away.

"When he saw the Wright-Way Rescue team arrive, Milo lifted his little head and purred," said Christy Anderson, the founder and executive director of the rescue.

The rescue says Milo has endured "horrific pain" from his severe burns, but despite the pain, they say he is "friendly and sweet."

The cat underwent surgery to remove the damaged skin, and shelter staff say he faces months of recovery time. Since his surgery, he receives a daily physical exam and gets regular blood work done. Shelter staff say his recovery will be long, but he has a good prognosis.

The rescue does not know who threw the boiling water on the cat.

Wright-Way Rescue is asking for donations to help care for Milo. Anyone interested in contributing can donate here.
