A substitute teacher and freshman basketball coach was arrested and charged this week for allegedly abusing an Orland Park student, police said Tuesday

Steven E. Reynolds, 27, of the 600 block of 55th Street in Hinsdale was charged with two counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse for allegedly abusing a 17-year old student at Carl Sandburg High School, police said.

According to the DuPage County Sheriff’s Office, Reynolds allegedly had inappropriate contact with the student on multiple occasions over the last several weeks. The victim, police said, confided about the accusation and the information was brought to authorities at the school.

Police received a call Monday afternoon referencing the reported abuse, the sheriff's office said.

The Orland Park Police Department arrested Reynolds Monday night. He is being held in the DuPage County Jail and was scheduled for bond court at 8 a.m.
