O'Connell's case is still being considered an active investigation and details of the incident will not be released, said Police Chief Tom Sheahan in a statement.

Criminal and civil actions are being considered against any person(s) involved, police said.

O’Connell left the Underground, located at Dearborn and Illinois, early Sunday morning, telling friends that she was tired and was going to catch a cab home.  Her family said she never made it there, and launched a frantic search for her.

"This is not normal behavior for Katie," one family member wrote in an email sent to media outlets.  "She always contacts her family."
