A teenager driving a stolen Mercedes led police on a chase that ended when he slammed into a CTA bus -- leaving him critically injured and up to nine bus passengers hospitalized -- late Sunday on the South Side.
Police followed what they determined to be a stolen 1995 Mercedes S420 at about 11:45 p.m. When the driver realized he was being tailed, he "punched it," police said, blew through a stop sign then plowed into the bus.
The 17-year-old boy behind the wheel was trapped inside the car and critically injured. Another teen in the car escaped without injury.
The bus driver and several passengers on the bus were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries, the Sun-Times is reporting.
