Sox Pay $5M to Move to New Desert Training Grounds
Team Leaves Tucson for Glendale Ball Park

Tucson is saying so-long to the Chicago White Sox.
The team is pulling out, taking their bats and balls with them, but leaving behind a $5 million buyout for Pima County, Az., for breaking its lease.
The Sox agreed to pay the penalty fee to the county after choosing to walk away from a contract with Tucson Electric Park that bound the team through 2012.
The county supervisors voted 5-0 Tuesday to release the White Sox so the team can move to a new stadium and training facility in Glendale in the spring of 2009.
The Los Angeles Dodgers will be joining the teams training in the desert next spring, as they move from their longtime training facility in Vero Beach, Fla.
With the Sox leaving, only the Arizona Diamondbacks and the Colorado Rockies will be training in Tucson next spring.
