Some Schools Closed for Snow

A few area schools announced snow days Friday, while others will start late

Most schools remain open following the Chicago area's first significant snow fall, but a few will take Friday off or get a late start.

Several Crete schools have announced a snow day, including Crete Elementary School and Crete-Monee High School.

St. Bernadette School for Special Children in Niles also has closed for the day, as well as Zion Beecher Lutheran School in Beecher.

Others will start the day later than usual.

Edgar L. Miller Elementary School and Fieler Elementary School in Merrilville will both open two hours late.
