Chicago Not Clear of Snow Yet

Though sunny days and mild temperatures graced the Chicago area throughout the week, the weekend isn’t expected to shine so bright.
Don’t put away your snow gear just yet.
Though weekend sunshine didn't turn into a snowy mess by Sunday, Chicago isn't in the clear just yet.
Light snowfall began late Sunday, producing significant accumulation downstate and leaving about an inch in Capron and about a half-inch at Midway International Airport. The metro area saw a dusting of snow, while Rockford had 1.9 inches and Channahon 1.3.
Though the storm mostly spared the Chicago area, the bulk of the storm had parts of Illinois seeing up to 4 inches of snowfall Sunday. Commuters traveling down Interstate 80 saw challenging traffic conditions.
Meanwhile the area will remain cold Monday and Tuesday before temperatures slowly warm by the weekend. Occasional light snow showers or flurries continue Monday with unseasonably chilly temps in the mid-30s.
A few lake-effect snow showers will still be possible Monday night in areas near the lake. Flurries continue Tuesday before the sun returns Wednesday with less wind and highs in the low 40s.
Temperatures are expected to climb to the upper 40s by Friday and as high as 50 degrees over the weekend.
