Snow Tapers, Temperatures Improve Wednesday

Areas to the north of Chicago and in Northwest Indiana will get by with a dusting to about one-half inch of snow

The light snow showers that some areas saw Wednesday morning will come to an end without causing major problems for commuters.

Areas to the north of Chicago and in Northwest Indiana will get by with a dusting to about one-half inch of snow. There was little to no accumulation in areas south and southwest of Chicago.

Forecast models showed temperatures improving slightly compared to the past few days, though conditions will still be cloudy and windy. The mercury should rise to the upper 20s in the metro area and the low 30s in Northwest Indiana.

Temperatures will will slowly fall later Wednesday afternoon as southwest winds shift west-northwest between 10 to 20 mph with gusts to 30 mph.

All this follows a record-breaking cold day Tuesday.
