1 Injured, 1 Missing After Small Airplane Crashes on Residential Street in Fort Wayne

One person was injured and another is missing after a single-engine, fixed-wing airplane crashed in a residential street in Fort Wayne, Indiana, early Saturday morning.

The plane, a Cessna 150, was flying north in the direction of Smith Field at about 3:45 a.m. when it began its descent. The plane then clipped the tops of some large trees, struck a power line and hit the corner of a roof on a house before crashing, according to Indiana State Police Sergeant Tom Merkling.

The airplane landed upside down in a backyard of a home in the 1400 block of Ludwig Park Drive, just south of Smith Field, Merkling said.

Two people were believed to have been inside the plane at the time of the crash, according to Merkling. One was injured in the crash, and the other has not been located.

The residents of the home were not injured, and they have temporarily relocated.

Further information was not available.
