A north suburban man is $1 million richer after scratching an instant lottery ticket.
Ray Hermez, 48, said he was at his Skokie home when he used a penny to scratch the “Fabulous Fortune” ticket, according to a statement from the Illinois Lottery. He plans to use his winnings to help his family.
The Shell gas station at 5132 Dempster Ave. in Skokie received a bonus of $10,000, or 1 percent of the prize amount, for selling the winning ticket.
