Six wolf pups from the Lincoln Park Zoo will soon be getting a taste of the wild.

The Red Wolf pups are a critically endangered species, declared extinct back in 1980.

Wolf mothers embrace new pups when they're young, so the six are heading to wildlife refuge in North Carolina.

It's the first time Lincoln Park Zoo is sending wolf pups into foster care.
