Ex-Worker Charged With Shooting in Elgin Auto Shop

Kyle Horn, 23, of Peppertree Lane in Elgin, was charged with aggravated discharge of a weapon and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon

Charges were filed Monday afternoon against an Elgin man who, hours earlier, walked into his former place of employment and fired a gun.

Kyle Horn, 23, of Peppertree Lane in Elgin, was charged with aggravated discharge of a weapon and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon.

Horn was taken into custody after firing a gun inside his former employer’s office Monday morning in the 200 block of North State Street, said Elgin spokeswoman Susan Olafson.

Elgin Driveline, an auto repair and services shop, is listed at the State Street address.

No injuries were reported in the shooting, which police said stemmed from a dispute between Horn and his former employer.

Horn is scheduled to appear in bond court Tuesday morning in Kane County.
