Sexual Assault Reported at DePaul University Dorm

A sexual assault was reported early Thursday morning in a dorm on Chicago’s DePaul University campus, the school said in an alert.

The assault happened between 1:45 a.m. and 2:30 a.m. in the Munroe Hall, located at 2312 N. Clifton, the alert stated.

Chicago police said the victim knew her alleged attacker and the two were acquaintances. They had left a party together and were at the dorm when the assault occurred, authorities said.

The woman transported herself to Illinois Masonic Medical Center where her condition was not known. Police said the alleged attacker was taken into custody but no charges had been filed as of Thursday afternoon.

It was not clear if the victim or her attacker were DePaul Students, but police said an investigation remained ongoing.

"DePaul University takes reports of sexual assault seriously and is committed to offering a secure and supportive environment for individuals who report incidents of sexual and relationship violence," the university said in a statement.
