Sex Rumors Lead to Teacher's Resignation

Students tweeted rumors about sex allegations

The Joliet School Board is expected to decide Wednesday the future of a teacher who resigned after sex allegations surfaced.

The Joliet Central High School teacher submitted his resignation Friday, the Herald-News reports. Students tweeted rumors that the teacher had sex with girls.

Will County Sheriff's Office took the case believing the incidents happened outside of Joliet. No one has been arrested or charged, the paper reports.

The school district said it launched an investigation once it learned of the allegations. It also notified parents and guardians through a phone messaging system Monday night.

"To the extent possible, we have spoken to any students who may have been involved. These students' parents or guardians have been contacted," the recording stated. "Joliet Central High School will have additional support services available for students who may need to share their emotions."

The board is expected to vote on the teacher's resignation at a special meeting at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at the district office located at 300 Caterpillar Drive.
