Several lanes were temporarily shut down along the Stevenson Expressway after a deadly crash early Saturday.
Illinois State Police said two cars crashed around 6 a.m. Saturday in the southbound lane near LaGrange Road.
According to officials, one of the cars rolled over in a ditch, and reportedly caught fire. Officials said the flames were out once troopers arrived at the scene.
Police reported that one man died at the scene.
As of 8:30 a.m. Saturday, the middle and right lanes on I-55 remain closed for investigation.
No other information was immediately known.
