Several Hospitalized After Police Chase Ends in Crash

Several people were hospitalized Monday night after a car attempting to flee from police ran a red light and crashed into at least two other vehicles on Chicago's South Side.

Police said officers began pursuing a minivan after they saw someone in the van fire shots at another vehicle around 10:30 p.m. in the 3200 block of West Carroll.

The chase continued to an intersection at 59th Street and Western Avenue where the vehicle ran a red light and hit two other vehicles.

Four people from those two vehicles were taken to Holy Cross Hospital where their conditions weren’t immediately known.

The driver of the minivan was taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County in good condition. Three other people in the van were arrested.

“I was sitting on my front porch then they came past probably doing about maybe 120 rolling with the side door open,” said witness Josh Ostrega. “It’s just crazy! It’s nothing new honestly, you see it every day pretty much.”
