Chicago Police arrested 29 students following a fight at Percy L. Julian High School Tuesday.

Police were called to the Washington Heights school shortly after 10 a.m. for what they termed a "major incident."

Several students were seen in handcuffs being led into police vehicles.

Students tell NBC 5 Chicago that the disturbance was gang-related and was initially provoked by a comments somebody made in the hallway on the second floor.

CPS officials issued a release saying the incident was resolved quickly due to the "swift action" taken by the school staff, CPD and CPS.

Twenty-six male students and three female student were arrested.

Officials say all classes and activities resumed as normal the rest of the day and additional support and security staff will be provided through the rest of the week.

Nobody was injured in the disturbance, according to CPS officials.

For parents like Myra Sterling, school fights are a major concern.

"You don't want your kids to get jumped on at school. You send them to school for safety and to learn something, not to have fights," Sterling said.
