From pre-school to post-graduate degrees, Illinois is tracking students' education from beginning to end.

A $9 million federal grant is being used to set up a new data system, which will keep track of what a child goes to school, what classes he or she takes and who teaches the classes.

It's part of a stimulus package compliance program, allowing parents access to their child's records at any time using an assigned student identification number.
