School Considers Breathalyzing Teens at Prom

Prom shenanigans might be kept to a minimum this year for a Northwest Indiana high school.

Chesterton High School is reportedly considering Breathalyzing students at their prom and senior banquet this year.

School officials discussed the plan at a Duneland School Board meeting Thursday, the Northwest Indiana Times reported.

Those in favor of the test say the Breathalyzers are legal and would be an alternative to canceling the dance altogether.

Students who test positive for alcohol would be given to onsite police for further processing and those who bring alcohol to the event could be Breathalyzed again throughout the night, NWI Times reported.

The board is reportedly taking the requested plan under advisement.
