Schaumburg Woman Attacked in Parking Garage: Cops

The 31-year-old woman told police someone attacked her from behind as she walked to her car

A Schaumburg woman reportedly was attacked early Monday in the underground parking garage of her apartment building, police said.

The 31-year-old woman entered the garage around 1:30 a.m. to grab something from her car when someone attacked her from behind, Schaumburg police said in a statement. It reportedly happened in the Versailles on the Lakes apartment complex in the 1000 block of North Plum Grove Road.

The woman woke up a short time later and called police. It's not yet known whether the victim was sexually assaulted. She was transported to St. Alexius Medical Center in Hoffman Estates for treatment of minor injuries.

The incident has police and residents frustrated.

"We have absolutely no description [of the attacker] at all," said Sgt. John Nebl.

Police urge residents, especially females, to be alert and aware of their surroundings when walking alone at night or in secluded areas.

Anyone with information about the reported attack is asked to call police. Anyone who sees a suspicious person is urged to call 911 as soon as possible.
