Check your shopping carts. Did you get everything on your grocery list? Milk, bread, butter ... illegal drugs!

Hold on, we may have a coupon for that last one.

The owner of a northwest suburban Sav-A-Lot store has been accused of illegally selling prescription drugs, police said, reports the Park Ridge Herald-Advocate.

Park Ridge police initiated an investigation at the grocery store when they received a tip about alleged repeated illegal drug activity, officials said in a release.

Authorities concluded that the alleged offender was store owner Hasmukhbhai K. Patel, 56, of Bensenville. Along with the usual grocery fare, police said Patel was illicitly selling prescription painkillers, according to the Park Ridge Herald-Advocate.

Patel was arrested Thursday and charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and unlawful possession of a controlled substance.
