What you need to know for the 2016 Bank of America Shamrock Shuffle 8K

Kick off the running season in Chicago and don’t stop your St. Patrick’s celebration at the Bank of America Shamrock Shuffle 8K, on Sunday, April 3. The 37th annual race is one of Chicago’s best races with the course weaving through downtown Chicago, starting and ending in Grant Park.

Event Entry Requirements
Runners must be capable of maintaining a 15:00/mile pace, and completing the full 8K distance, start line to finish line, within the event time requirement of 1 hour and 15 minutes (h:mm:ss/1:15:59)
 
Runners must be 8 years of age or older on event day. Runners under 18 years of age must have a statement signed by a parent or legal guardian permitting participation.

Participant Packet and Bag Pick-Up (location & hours):
 
Health & Fitness Expo: McCormick Place, West Building, Hall F
2301 S Indiana Ave., Chicago
 
Friday, April 1: 10 a.m.-8 p.m.
Saturday, April 2: 9 a.m.-6 p.m.
 
Packet pick-up tickets will be emailed to all registered participants. Runners must present a printout/hard copy of their packet pick-up ticket or the page on a mobile device or tablet.
 
If you cannot attend the Health & Fitness Expo, a friend, family member or co-worker can pick up your packet for you by presenting a copy of your packet pick-up ticket. No ticket? Packet pick-up tickets can be printed at the Participant Services Desk at the Health & Fitness Expo.
 
Packets are not available for pick-up the day of the event.
 
Participant packets, bags and shirts will not be mailed to participants prior to or following the Health & Fitness Expo.

Schedule of Events
6:30 a.m.: Gear check opens, start corrals open
8:30 a.m.: Wave 1 race start
9:00 a.m.: Post-Race Party begins
9:15 a.m.: Wave 2 race start
9:30 a.m.: Live music begins at the Post-Race Party
11:30 a.m.: Gear check closes
1:00 p.m.: Beer ticket sales end
1:30 p.m.: Post-Race Party ends
2:00 p.m.: Race after-party at the Scout begins
 
Start area
Location: Columbus Drive and Monroe Street
Participants must enter their assigned start corrals at designated areas within Grant Park, no less than 15 minutes prior to the race start. Participants will be assigned to a specific wave and start corral. This information is in the packet pick-up email.
 
Finish area
Location: Columbus Drive, Grant Park, Hutchinson Field
 
Aid Stations
Two on-course aid stations offer Gatorade Endurance Formula (lemon-lime), water, medical support and toilet facilities
Aid Station 1: Mile 1.8 (State Street and Randolph Street)
Aid Station 2: Mile 3.5 (Franklin Street and Monroe Street)
 
Clock and mile markers
Clocks and mile markers will be located at every mile. Timing mats will be at the start line, 5K (3.1 mile) and at the finish line
 
Other info
iPod/Headphones: The use of headphones, iPods, etc. is acceptable for general race participants. However, athletes competing for prize money may not use electronic devices.
 
Food and Beverages: The Mariano’s Runner Refreshment Area at the finish line will provide participants with post-race food and beverages. Participants and guests can also purchase additional food and beverages at the Post-Race Party.
 
NOT allowed on the course: Dogs, baby joggers, baby strollers, skateboards, rollerblades, unauthorized bicycles or any other wheeled devices are not allowed on the race course.
 
Results: Complete race results will be posted online at shamrockshuffle.com and emailed to all participants via the e-mail address provided at the time of race registration
 
Post-Race Party
Sunday, April 3
Grant Park
9 a.m.-1:30 p.m.
 
Celebrate your finish at the Bank of America Shamrock Shuffle 8K Post-Race Party immediately following the race. The Post-Race Party features live music from Chicago’s own Stache. Runners receive a drink ticket attached to their bib number that can be redeemed for one Michelob ULTRA. Additional drink tickets are available for purchase in-advance at the Bank of America Shamrock Shuffle 8K Health & Fitness Expo or at the Post-Race Party.
 
Race After Party
Sunday, April 3
2 p.m. to 1 a.m.
Scout Waterhouse & Kitchen
1301 S. Wabash Ave.
 
The Bank of America Shamrock Shuffle 8K After Party is hosted at the Scout Waterhouse & Kitchen from 2 p.m. to 1 a.m. Shamrock Shuffle participants who bring their race bib will receive a ticket that can be redeemed for one Michelob ULTRA.
