The U.S. Soccer star plans to run the Chicago marathon with a little help from her friends ... and make some charity money along the way. (Published Monday, Aug 22, 2011)

Marathon runners can win a chance to be one of a select few to run with a member of the U.S. Women’s soccer team in the Bank of America Chicago Marathon in October.

Thirteen applicants will be chosen to run two-mile legs with Hope Solo, Abby Wambach or Alex Morgan. The World Cup soccer stars have not yet decided how many miles each will run.

The soccer trio is running as part of the marathon’s “Let’s Run Together” charity campaign.

The marathon will host 45,000 runners on Oct. 9.

The event raised $12 million for charity last year.
