The Rosebud Restaurant on Rush Street is damaged in a fire.
Chicago fine dining is on fire during the summer season, but for Italian restaurant Rosebud on Rush, so was the kitchen.
A fire broke out at the restaurant, at 720 N. Rush Street, at about 10:45 p.m. Monday.
The fire was contained to the second-floor kitchen and is suspected to have started in the electrical wiring in the ceiling.
The restaurant’s owner, Alex Dana, said insurance adjusters estimate the damage could run into "the six figures.''
"The smoke damage and the water damage from the fire department was probably more of the damage than anything,'' Dana told the Chicago Breaking News Center. "We're treating this like Disney World, we want to be open for the season. This is the season we do good in Chicago."
He said the restaurant will close for three to four days.
Dana said there were about 10 customers and 15 employees who evacuated the restaurant, including Los Angeles Dodgers' Manager Joe Torre. The Dodgers have been on fire this season, too -- but there's no word on whether there's a connection.
No one was hurt.
Talk about taking the heat.
