“Rooftop Pastor” Says No More Politicians at Pulpit

Pastor Corey Brooks' church was burglarized Saturday

"Rooftop pastor" Corey Brooks said he's not planning on having any more politicians speak from the pulpit.

New Beginnings Church was burglarized Saturday, and Brooks said he believes an $8,000 theft from a church charity box and threats he received are tied to his support for Bruce Rauner.

Rauner spoke Sunday at New Beginnings, telling parishioners he would "go to work for you" and quoting the Bible.

Brooks told reporters Sunday that he doesn't want to put his church "in jeopardy." He said recent political appearances are causing a "distraction" for parishioners.

He said he will continue to support certain candidates, but "as far as them coming to our church to speak, that's not going to happen."
